DIY Bookcase Upcycle

Ever seen or have a dresser that needs new life? See how I have taken an old dresser and turned its drawers and the dresser itself into bookcases. This particular dresser was a clients grandmothers and she wanted it turned into something for her son.

I first took out the top drawer shelf with a miter saw-I think demo time is probably the best part about this :)

I then primed the inside of the shelves with two coats Wise Owl White Primer. Usually the inside of dressers tend to be bleaders. After the primer was dry (i usually wait overnight) I applied Snow Owl to the walls of the inside.

For the outside I used Wise Owl Paint Glacial, for the shelves i ended up getting bead board from the hardware store and painting them with Smokey Quartz. To tie in the outside with the inside I created racing stripes with Smokey Quartz. To seal the whole piece I used Lemon Verbena Salve. Not only does the salve seal the piece it leaves a great smell for many weeks.

For the drawers I painted them with Wise Owl Chalk Synthesis Paint Abyss and Snow Owl. I glued the drawers together, decoupaged wallpaper, and attached furniture legs to bottom to give it some height.

I hope this inspires you to do something creative with something you may have laying around. Like always, feel free to contact me with any questions.

Happy Painting!
